In 1996, Eva Kerschbaumer sold her grandmother's jewelry and bought a plane ticket from Hungary to New York City. She arrived with literally nothing more than $50 and the clothes on her back, no relatives and no understanding of or ability to speak English. Through the kindness of an Amtrak conductor, she somehow made her way to Pittsburgh. In 2002, Eva built and opened what remains the only spa in Pennsylvania that is one of the 12 Founding Seed Spa Members of the Green Spa Network.
About Eva's Spa - esSpa Organic Hungarian Skincare started with three employees operating out of 800 sq.ft. In 2005, Eva relocated and built the spa's current 6,000 sq.ft. "Green Certified" sanctuary. In 2019, this female, immigrant entrepreneur's business will exceed $2.5 million in revenue. With 15 treatment rooms, a team of 39 professional therapists and support staff, Eva will deliver over 16,000 spa treatments this year alone. Eva's establishment was named "The 3rd Best Spa in America" by The Industry Source Magazine, was selected as "Best Family Spa' by Travel + Leisure Magazine and has won 3 other national industry awards. Additionally, the spa was named "The Best Green Spa", "The Best Organic Salon" and "Best Skincare" in Western Pennsylvania. Eva counts Julianna Moore, Anne Hathaway, Jake Gyllenhaa, Troy Polamalu, Jim Thome (future basbeball Hall of Famer), and a host of Fortune 500 executives amongst her client guests as well as her friends. The success of Eva's spa is directly attributable to nothing more than her incredible work ethic and her uncompromising attention to delivering the most effective, organic spa treatments to her guests. Eva continues to work as an esthetician and she sees 9-12 guests per day on a regular basis, spending well over 100 hours per week in the spa. As her reputation has grown, the best therapists from all over the country and the world have relocated to Pittsburgh specifically to work for Eva.
Eva and her esSpa Organic Hungarian Skincare + Salon offers a full-array of Spa and Salon Services. But she has an international reputation for her Traditional Hungarian Facials as well as her penetrating CIT Facials, Dermaplaning and LED/PDT Light Therapy. Eva is known as using the controlled-trauma of very aggressive, naturally-sourced peels to thoroughly exfoliate and rejuvenate the facial composition of her customers.
Eva learned about Traditional Herbal Medicine from her Grandmother in Apostag Hungary.
She was the Assistant to the CEO of Mercatura Cosmetics and Stagecolor in Bremen, Germany.
For the 3 years before coming to America, Eva trained under Master Esthetician, Maria Baksay, at her facility in Budapest, Hungary.
From 2004-2017, Eva was a member of DAYSPA Magazine's Board of Advisors.
Eva is currently the Director of Training for M.A. Dermaceutical and is the Senior Trainer for North America for Biopeptix Cosmeceuticals.
Eva is a sought after speaker and educator for NASN, IECSC, IBS, ISSE, Face & Body and numerous other Industry Shows and Events.

Best spa ever! Always have a world class experience and love the staff. I have been to some of the world’s best spas and have never received a better facial than the ones I receive from Esspa. They also have a quaint blow out bar that I visit weekly. It’s always a relaxing and five star experience.
I love Esspa and especially their owner Eva! The care they take to make your experience the best one ever is unsurpassed. I have experienced their pedicures and massages but the one thing that is the greatest by far are their facials. They keep me looking much younger than my years! There are always special lotions and products designed by Eva to keep me looking my best year round. I highly recommend Esspa and their staff! Why go anywhere else!
I love Eva! And everything about this spa. I have been going here for over 10 years for all different types of treatments - facials, massages (Swedish and hot stone), eyelash extensions, microblading, and blow outs. Every time I am there, I am treated professionally and with the utmost courtesy. It is seriously one of the best Spas in the Pittsburgh area.
This is the best spa in Pittsburgh. The staff is so professional and every experience is first class. Absolutely beautiful inside and out. Plan to arrive early or stay late in the upstairs relaxation room.
I have been going to Esspa Kozmetika for facials for years, even though I live an hour away. My esthetician is THAT GOOD. She is delightful-- really knows her stuff, funny, friendly but can tell when I am having a day where I just want to lie quietly and be pampered. My skin has gotten so much better under her care. I totally trust her suggestions, and have found that, when she recommends a product, it really is a good choice for me. The Spa/Salon itself is charming--- like visiting a boho European villa or something. I like getting there early enough to peruse the perfumes and makeup on display, or drink some tea while looking through coffee table books. Absolutely worth a visit.
