Dr. Ken Anderson, MD, FISHRS, ABHRS is the founder of Anderson Center for Hair, a state-of-the-art hair transplant center with two purpose-built facilities, one in Atlanta and the other in Alpharetta, Georgia. Dr. Anderson uniquely stands as the only board-certified facial plastic surgeon in the world with over 25 years dedicated exclusively to the specialty of hair restoration surgery. He is board certified by the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery, the American Board of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, and the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.

He has confined his practice exclusively to the treatment of hair loss, both surgical and non-surgical, for over two decades. After graduating with honors from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Dr. Anderson completed a 6-year residency at the University of Michigan specializing in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery (ENT surgery). As a part of his training in ENT surgery, Dr. Anderson completed a fellowship in tissue engineering in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Michigan. He and his team were able to clone cartilage tissue and noninvasively surgically place the cartilage into animal models using needles. His work was so successful that it was published in Nature, one of the most prestigious and most-read academic journals in the world. His tissue engineering work at the University of Michigan was also published in PNAS (Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences), JAMA (the Journal of the American Medical Association), Journal of Infectious Disease, Annals of Otology Rhinology & Laryngology, Archives of Facial Plastic Surgery, and several others. This experience in the field of tissue engineering and biomedical engineering has given Dr. Anderson a unique perspective on many of the cutting-edge regenerative medicine treatments that are being developed to treat hair loss.

Following his residency training, Dr. Anderson completed a fellowship in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Michigan. This fellowship was under the direction of Shan Baker, MD, FACS, president of the American Board of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. For the duration of his fellowship he was the staff otolaryngologist at the Ann Arbor Veterans Administration Hospital, where he proudly served America's Veterans.

He began in private practice in Beverly Hills, California in 2003, until 2008 when he was recruited by EMORY Healthcare to serve as the Chief of Hair Restoration Surgery. He founded Anderson Center for Hair in 2010, and offers leading-edge surgical and non-surgical treatments from the field of regenerative medicine. He is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He is also currently an Adjunct Clinical Professor in the Department of Dermatology at Emory University School of Medicine. At least once a month he hosts physicians from the Department of Dermatology at Anderson Center for Hair for live surgical procedures and patient consultations as part of Emory’s physician training program in dermatology.

Dr. Anderson is a pioneer in FUE (follicular unit excision) hair restoration surgery. His first cases in hair restoration surgery were in 2002 during his fellowship in facial plastic surgery. In 2004 was the surgeon on the first FUE surgery case published in the worldwide medical literature (Bernstein RM, Rassman WR, Anderson KW: FUE Megasessions – Evolution of a Technique. Hair Transplant Forum International, 14(3):116-17, 2004). At that time there were no specialized surgical instruments to perform FUE hair transplant surgery like there are today, and so it was questioned whether an entire hair transplant procedure was even possible using only the FUE technique. In a surgery that lasted over 18 hours Dr. Anderson used disposable 1mm biopsy punches and proved that indeed it was possible to complete an entire hair transplant surgery using only the FUE technique.

In 2010 Dr. Anderson founded the American Academy of Hair Restoration Surgery which provides on-demand didactic and practical hands-on training in all aspects of surgical hair restoration. To date he has trained over 60 physicians from around the world in the non-surgical and surgical treatment of men’s and women’s hair loss.

Dr. Anderson also treats doctors: over 5% of his patients are themselves practicing physicians and surgeons. Since 2004 he has treated patients from 48 states and 53 different countries. Winner of over 70 local, national and international awards, including securing the award for the Best Hair Restoration Practice every year for the past 10 years from Atlanta Magazine, Modern Luxury The Atlantan, and Best Self Magazine. Each year since 2015 he has been selected as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor, a peer-nominated award that only 7% of the physicians in the USA earn. Dr. Anderson has been recognized since 2019 as one of the Top 25 hair transplant centers in the world by a consumer group in the UK; only 11 of those on the list are in the USA. He has over 1000 5-star reviews on Google and RealSelf. With a dedicated surgical team that has over 180 years of combined experience in hair transplant surgery, Anderson Center for Hair is one of the most experienced hair transplant practices in the world.

Dr. Anderson gives generously to several local charities, both with financial support, as well as personally getting involved. Dr. Anderson has centered his practice and career on the specialty of hair restoration surgery, providing patients natural and permanent hair restoration surgery results, and a delightful patient experience.

    TESTIMONIALS

We have hundreds of authentic patient reviews on Google, RealSelf.com, and Yelp.com. Below are just a couple of examples:

    May 29, 2022
I am a double board-certified dermatologist in both Canada and the US and a Hair Restoration Surgeon – so, naturally, I really took time and deliberation in deciding who would perform my own hair transplant. I know many excellent hair surgeons, but I chose Dr Anderson for many reasons, but most importantly: his years of experience and his remarkable results. My experience was wonderful! His nurses and staff were warm and welcoming throughout and honestly really fun to spend the day with. I was particularly impressed at how comfortable I was throughout my procedure. His use and technique with anesthesia was excellent – so much so, I even asked him for anesthesia tips to implement into my own practice. Post-operative instructions were clear and detailed, and my recovery was a breeze. I felt fine the next day and was back at work and seeing patients in 2 days! My donor area was looking healed up within a week as if nothing had been done at all. I think it’s also important to mention that Dr Anderson really listened to what I was hoping to achieve with my transplant. I am extremely picky when it comes to hairline design, and I am very happy with what he created for me. Many thanks to Dr Anderson and his team!

    April 21, 2021
I first met Dr. Anderson in February of 2015. I knew right off he was the Dr. to perform my procedure. Just a regular guy who like to talk cars. While at my consultation, I noticed displayed on the wall very intricate mechanical drawings. I was informed by Dr. Anderson that he did these by hand. That was the icing on the cake. If he could draw something with such precision and detail, I thought my procedure would be a walk in the park. Fast forward 6 years, Friday April 16th, 2021. After procrastination and encouragement from my wife, I decided to take the plunge. I arrived at the appointed time at the Alpharetta Ga. location. I went through some paperwork, (all on I-pad) and then was escorted into the room for my procedure. The staff made me feel right at home and soon I was given medication and began to relax. Watched a short video that explained in detail everything that would happen that day and then what to expect during the post op recovery. Dr. Anderson came in and we chatted for a few minutes. Next, he went about drawing out my new hairline. Soon I was feeling pretty good and before I knew it the linear strip of hair was removed. At that point I was starving! The sub and drink I had ordered earlier had come just in time. For the next several hours the process of placing my new hair took place. I felt no pain and the meds were just enough to doze a little bit here and there. The staff was very professional and made sure every need was met.

Around 6:30 pm my wife picked me up. Dr. Anderson was thrilled with my outcome and how well the day went. I was given final instructions and walked out to the car. I was not in any pain and had no after effects of the sedatives given during the day. We ordered curbside at a nearby restaurant and went back to our hotel. After a restful night’s sleep, we got up, had breakfast and headed back to Orlando. I drove the entire 7 hours. Post op no bleeding or pain. I only took one pain pill on Friday evening just in case I might have pain during the night.

I would encourage anyone thinking about this procedure to go for it! My only regret is that I waited 6 years from when I first met Dr. Anderson. I would not have even considered anyone but Dr. Ken Anderson. Believe me there are plenty of Doctors in the Orlando area that offer hair restoration.

In conclusion, I cannot thank Dr. Anderson and his staff enough for their commitment and professionalism that they showed to me. Truly the best!
